The French "confident" or "tête-à-tête" is a seat for two, so named for its usage for two companions to engage in intimate conversations. The "confident" is not to be confused with the "indiscret", a seat made for three where no conversation could be guaranteed to be private. This hand carved walnut confident c. 1880 features cherubs engaged in their own tête-à-tête.
