Louis XIII Buffet Deux Corps

Hand carved oak Louis XIII buffet deux corps with barley twist columns, c. 1880. An artist’s palette is at the crown of the upper section of the buffet. The drawer handles of the lower section are hand carved books that say “loi 71” meaning “law” and “code 89” which is a reference to the civil code after the French Revolution of 1789. The lower doors have hand carved birds.
